Take a summer seat in Chelmorton
Ice bucket challenge was no match for the end of September rain finishing a hot summer in Chelmorton, villager Jamie Prout completed his ice bucket challenge with the dousing of a giant tractor bucket of ice water while tourists in the village took a seat on the new bench by the Illy willy water trough. The smart new bench makes an excellent feature by the water trough. The wet finish to the August sunshine has driven grass well and some fields have already taken a second cut. The last Sunday of September saw more visitors than usual, it was joint benefice service at St Johns at the top of Main Street. Sunshine was strong for the busy church service, taken by Vicar Richard, a sermon on God is a person, not an it, beings and self, the sermon kept the parishioners focused alongside their fellow guest parishes from Hartington, Monyash and Taddington. Chelmorton church warden Irene Ottey had tea coffee and refreshments waiting for all the parishes at the end of the joint service. Sunshine remaining strong for those returning Main street ready for the first days of August.
