Sunshine Chelmorton Chase 2025, local winner was Harry Mosley

Gemma Cox was awarded the Windross Shield for first lady home and first male runner, holding a building front place from the startswas Thomas Oliver in thirty one mins 34.

Running race with a view - Eleven hundred feet above sea level - a running race that has become a village event, with an army of local marshals and icon wooden arrows to finish downhill in Main Street, lashing overnight rain cleared for a sunshine morning at the top of the Peak District.

For 2025 Runners followed the iconic Chelly wooden arrows in Sunday sun shine with a christening at the St John the Baptist church.

One hundred pound team prize for affiliated clubs to Matlock. (2025 winners Matlock AC) (2024 winners were Sinfin Runners Club, Derbyshire)

The Chelmorton Chase 2025

Overnight rain, Grey sky morning but dry and strong sunshine for race start, a race with a view, that has become an annual village event - the Chelmorton Chase.

Starting outside Primitive Hall on Main Street, Mixed-terrain shoes. Tracey, Lady of Hollinsclough flagged the runners away for a sunshine start.

A local village army. Extensive team of high-vis marshals at every turn, the iconic timber arrows marked the route to be sure.

Tracey, Lady of Hollinsclough starts the race, chequered flag marks the finish as locals cheer on Main Street after a downhill finish.

Club prize of One hundred pounds to the winning team 2025, Matlock AC.

A race with a view. Passing the Church Inn pub for the Five Wells track, The race covers five miles climbing high out of the village with spectacular views from the High Stool limestone trail, a fast downhill road decent back to the village before returning down the Main Street.

Buxton runner Andy Wilton holds the course record at thirty minutes thirty one seconds and villager Ian Hulse holds the locals' record. A double winner for the Dark Peak Running Club is Stuart Bond who took first place in 2008 and 2010. From 2010 the Joan Windross memorial shield has been presented to the first lady runner across the line. It holds more than a decade of names for lady running winners and is on display in the Church Inn pub. For 2025 Gemma Cox took the Windross Shield. Harry Mosley was first local and first over the line was Thomas Guliver for High Peak AC.
