Chelmorton Owl in headspin for Main Street wheelbarrow race at heart of Sunday village festival

Chelmorton Summer Festival still full of fun in heart of Peak District despite rain-soaked weekend.

Giant Owl sneaks fancy dress special in wheelbarrow race up Main Street.

The Giant Blue Owl braved grey clouds and bunting in summer festival for fast dash on Main Street Chelmorton Derbyshire.

Barrow tipped to be fast in left -hand corners as port side handle was missing!

Some sunshine between the rain showers caused cancelations for the Chelmorton summer festival, eleven hundred feet above sea level. Star of the Sunday timetable was the fancy dress wheelbarrow race.

Sadly cancelled, but a single fancy dress owl was seen on Main Street in a gap between the rain clouds.

Owl Head in a spin. Secret of the walker inside was never revealed, let's wait for next year! The wheelbarrow had a flat front tyre and only one solid handle but was ready for action and believed to be particularly fast in the corners for the race turn towards the Church Inn Pub, the flat tyre was expected to be grippy as it heated up in the wet conditions. Fingers crossed for next year.
