Chelmorton Snow in February sunshine

First weekend of February for picture postcard snow scenes eleven hunderd feet above sea level in the heart of the Peak District in the linear village of Chelmorton.

Mid-week snow found roads from Leek to Buxton closed with the A515 delivering five hour delays for trucks coming up from Newhaven.

Plough tractors chained up trucks and kept the Ashbourne road moving into the night. It was time for cars to find their front tow hooks in the boot and get them screwed in the front grille.

Some very cold temperatures in the last days of January cleared for sunny February weekend snowscapes that were breathtaking. Holiday cottages in Chelmorton booked up strongly with the roads fully open and the snow glistening in the sunshine. Steamy breath and white snow.

Local farmers battled the covered fields delivering grass to the sheep out in the snow. Sunday family service at St Johns, Main Street for Feb 3rd , first Sunday of the month.
