December 20th - last advent of December 2015
There were blue skies in Chelmorton as many folk walked Main Street for the three pm carol service supported by Hollinsclough Silver Band. Another full house, David Race opened with a tree of the bible story from Adam & Eve to Mary. Vicar Richard lit the final red advent candle and the congregation sang loud for O Little town of Bethlehem. Some readings of Ionia before ‘While Shepherds watched their flocks by night.’ David race lit the childrens candles before the village youngsters took the nativity animals to the alter. The youngsters then turned about and sang 'Away in a Manger'. The last reading, ‘the word is god’ by Vicar Richard and then a rousing finish for the congregation and silver band with ‘Hark the Herald angel.’ Finally mulled wine and mince pies were enjoyed by all as the band played on to get applause.
December 13th - Third Sunday of advent was carols at Taddington for a full house of joint benefice, Sheffield choir and Taddington school children.
