Diary: Chelmorton Village Festival 2017 (July 10th – 16th)

The village festival begins after the Buxton town carnival, Chelmorton enter a tractor and float trailer in the theme of Elvis for the Buxton town carnival Saturday July 8th.

Following the town carnival, Buxton has a busy festival week and Chelmorton will celebrate its own festival in Main Street.

All week, (starting Mon 10th July) there will be bunting and decorations in Main Street Chelmorton. The craft group will be yarn bombing the village green with their handmade work. There will be a wish well at the troughs and a treasure trail to test your knowledge. Monday to Friday there will be a mini flower festival in St Johns Church and an exhibition of farm equipment, the institute will be serving refreshments, have a quilt exhibition and a craft sale stand.

Monday will be festival quiz in the Church Inn pub 9 till 10.30ish. Tuesday sees the crime writers panel, Wednesday the Tideswell singers will be in the church of St johns with a five pound ticket price. (01298 85460)Thursday David Bagshaw and Mark Hambelton will deliver a dry stone walling course. Harry Mayo will do a history tour the same afternoon and there will be a film event in the Institute that evening. Friday will be table tennis in the Institute and festival day will be Saturday July 15th. Village stalls, dog show and children’s activities.
