Sunday, June 4th - Family service at St John's Chelmorton celebrating the Holy Spirit
June sunshine in Chelmorton for first Sunday of the month family service with a third of the congregation youngsters. Reader, David Race represented the Holy Spirit with the feather of a white dove. The feather began at the church on the village field map, using a purple and pink hand fan each member of the congregation propelled air onto the map and drove the feather to a new landing, each landing blessed from Main Street to the Ditch and back to the Church Inn pub. Warden Irene Ottey had organised for first Sunday of the month and laid on tea, coffee and biscuits. 75 years young for Main Street resident Carole Lester. Chelmorton celebrations not over, Carole Lester was at home for her seventy fifth birthday. Balloons, cake and parties with phone calls from relatives as far as Australia in the heady news of seventy five years.
