During the summer Scout camp archaeology dig Morgause Lomas headed the team that drew two Derbyshire sisters into a dig to use their trowels to find what at first discovery looked like a muddy tent peg. Removing the soil, this was no tent peg. Was it an ancient brooch? So rare, could it really be true? The find headed to the British Museum for verification, Yes, Wow! Reported by the British Museum verification team, it was real.
One and a half thousand years old. Sisters from Derby High School at the Derbyshire Scout archaeology dig had found a rare sixth century Anglo Saxon brooch.

From ITV National News it was into the London WC1 studios, next interviews were with Chanel 5 for their five o’clock news programme. No need of a hair session for the cameras, Morgause remained fixed to her lucky archaeology hat. Don’t blink, at the table with the presenter, this was live national news interview!
Memories of a Scout success for a magic summer of rare dig find leading the Derbyshire Scout Association Archaeology team that had been the very inspiration for Morgause to engage young next generation into the adventure of history she had made her focus in life.
