The Chelmorton Chase returned on Sunday 3rd Oct 2021 for the first time since COVID-19, rain stopped for the race and left a reasonably dry course.
Start in Main Street was cheered on by locals and visitors to the village. Following the blue arrows, extensive marshalling had hi-vis vests on every turn of the course. Multi terrain, from soil track to gravel on the limestone way and a downhill finish back to Main Street from High Stool. Top of the course had a giant 30 metre flagpole and rainbow streamer as runners were permitted to cross the private Copper Farm fields.
Rain held off and a good many folk were on the course to cheer the runners. Figaro car from the Cars movie featured in the front of the tarmac sections of the race to motivate the front-runners with villagers assisting with traffic security.
Medals for every finisher and sparkling wine added to celebrations for the place runners, male female and veteran.
In a cool twist of speed, winning place runners were presented with certificates which had their race photos from the course, on the certificate.
Set your calendar for first Sunday of October 2022 which will mark the twenty-fifth year of the Chelmorton Chase.
