Christmas Card weather 29th December 2020
Chelmorton, eleven hundred feet above sea level, South of Buxton, in heart of Peak District. After a sunshine Christmas Day, extensive rain fell from Boxing Day.
The village awoke to a post-Christmas white blanket on the morning Dec 29th.
Chelmorton is a linear village, with Main Street as the single road that follows Illy Willy Water from the top of the village at St John the Baptist Church.
At the other end of the village, what locals call 'The Docks' is first to flood.
For morning Dec 29th, the ‘docks’ made a sharp contrast of a very large paddling pool at the entry of the village!
Clearly Christmas card weather for the last days of December. Time to get the sledge out. Or maybe we need a dingy, small rowing boat?
