Chelmorton in London Great City Race Tuesday July 21st 2020
5k City running 1500 feet above sea level
Virtual run from home - It still takes your breath away!
Carl Lomas from Chelmorton teamed up with All Hallows by the Tower church, the oldest church in the City of London for their team entry, running in the City of London Great City Race Tuesday July 21st 2020.
For lockdown 2020 the Great City Race was by virtual entry on-line. City of London or not, entrants could run where ever they were.
London is at sea level! Lomas set claim to the highest runner above sea level as he bagged the top of Peak National Park, south of Buxton 1500 feet above sea level in the linear village of Chelmorton.
Ten min miles for the 5K climb was no flat race pace but golly the views from the top of the World almost challenged normal life - that would have been running down Bishopsgate for Tower and the Thames towpath.
Canary Wharf had nothing on this, but then there was no view of Greenwich and the Cutty Sark.
Buxton Water was a race sponsor alongside Standard Chartered Bank - Buxton Water, how local is that at fifteen hundred feet above sea level!
Chelmorton Fell Race is still set to go ahead Sept 20th 2020 – keep your eye on the this website for lockdown reports on the race running.
