Halloween in Main Street Chelmorton - 31 Oct 2017
Children donned some of the best fancy dress in memory of Halloween for the Chelmorton Main Street spooky walk with a very scary house at the centre of the village where only the brave met the witch, rang the bell and summoned the monster demon.
The hour moved and sunset around five brought darkness to Main Street Chelmorton for the 2017 Halloween of October 31st. The village has built a tradition of seeing youngsters trick and treat on the Main Street, 2017 was no exception with a wide group of local families walking the linear road of the single street Peak District village at eleven hundred feet above sea level.
The most scary house lay at the centre of the village, yellow caution tape across the railings, knock if you dare. The youngsters had to pass cones of caution before the door. Knock and run, or stand and call trick or treat. Those who stood saw the door creak open slowly, inside in the mist lay screams of Halloween. Children shrieked and ran. Those of the brave were greeted by the witch, a giant trunk of tuck and sweets awaited, first they must ring the bell and summon the demon.
Dark warm air on the dry evening saw more children summon the courage to meet the witch as the Halloween evening proceded. 2017 saw some of the best fancy children’s fancy dress in any memory of the spooky evening in Main Street 2017.
