Sunday nativity service, December 18th
St Johns Church welcomed back Hollinsclough Silver Band. ‘Once in Royal David's City’ was sung loud. Main Street, eleven hundred feet above sea level was icy with light rain freezing on the tarmac. The church in candlelight, service by David Race had great warmth. The children were invited to the crib. Beautiful angels made by the craft group adorning the aisles. Children took the nativity figures to the altar crib before singing a special solo of ‘Silent Night’. ‘Hark the Herald Angels’ to finish with an encore by the silver band of Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer. Warm mulled wine and mince pies readied the Chelmorton practitioners for the walk back out onto the dark icy Main Street.
A special Christmas Day service will take place from ten on Dec 25th.
