December first snow in Chelmorton - Christmas Day service 2020 at St John the Baptist church Main Street
First snow for end of year fell evening Thursday December 3rd 2020 with a proper white covering for Friday morning December 4th in Chelmorton, eleven hundred feet above sea level in the heart of the Peak District.
As the days of December proceeded, Main Street looked more festive than ever before. LED lights, LED poles, Santa’s and snow men on Main Street, a vey smart colourful set of lights on the tree on the village green and at the top of the village a splendid triangle set of LEDS twinkling around a pole in a tree like design topped with a giant star.
December lockdown placed Chelmorton in tier three, but the church of St John the Baptist remains open for Christmas Morning.
There will be a Christmas Day Family Service at ten AM. ‘Come and give thanks for the hope that Christmas brings.’ A spoken communion will follow. ‘Please wear a face mask at all times’ ‘Sit in the pews with the angels.’
